General

Restaurants in Abu Dhabi’s offer a wide range of Arabic, Far-Eastern, European, Latin and Continental cuisines, served in authentic style and unique ambience. Multiple-cuisine is served by many restaurants. Other than authentic cuisine some restaurants are specialised in certain type of food such as seafood, vegetarian and others.

Indian restaurants in Abu Dhabi are famous for excellent quality food as well as being at a reasonable rate. Lebanese and Arabic foods are usually at a low-price throughout the city. The city also hosts some fast food chain restaurants like McDonald’s and several Chinese restaurants.

Many of Abu Dhabi’s restaurants are located inside hotels. If you fancy a scrumptious buffet, head out to one of the popular areas around the Breakwater, Sheikh Zayed Street, Corniche Road or Tourist Club area, where you will find some of the best restaurants tucked away in hotel lobbies. Many international chains of restaurants, such as steak houses, have outlets in Abu Dhabi. Many pubs at hotels also serve a full meal. In the evening, restaurants usually open at 7 pm. Weekends are usually busy; it is therefore advisable to book a table in advance.

Places to Dine

Non-hotel Restaurants

For a fine selection of Egyptian dishes, Abu Shakra is the place to be. This authentic Middle Eastern restaurant offers a menu from grilled skewered meats and meze to rich vegetable stews. A thick black coffee usually finishes off the meal nicely.

Floating on the ocean, the unique Abu Taf has simple interior which is decorated with photographs of celebrities that have dined there. When it comes to taste, Abu Taf offers an excellent Chinese cuisine and is also heaven for seafood lovers. Popular for its culinary delights, Abu Taf has an extensive menu ranging from king prawn, hammour to sultan Ibrahim fish.

The India Palace restaurant is situated at Salam Street opposite the ADNOC FOD headquarters. Decorated like a Rajasthani Palace, it is furnished elegantly and has an excellent atmosphere. India Palace is not only famous for its best Indian delicacies but it also offers an extensive menu from all over the world. Enjoy chicken tikka or delicious prawn or the traditional dal makhani. The restaurant is popular for its excellent food, fantastic furnishings and friendly atmosphere.

Art Cauldron, at Al Fahar Street, is a Bohemian themed restaurant is tucked away in a basement with a romantic atmosphere. The interior is pleasant and serves various international dishes with generous portions. As it is not located in a hotel, it does not serve alcohol.

Hotel Restaurants

Hemingway is located at the Hilton and has a diverse menu listed with a variety of spice and chilli dishes. This Cuban-American joint is perfect for after-work crowds who want to dine on burgers, nachos and hearty Tex-Mex steaks. Also located at the Hilton, The Royal Orchid restaurant has a peaceful atmosphere. It has a balcony on the first floor with tables overlooking the main seating area on the ground floor. This Thai style restaurant offers Thai, Chinese and Mongolian traditional specialties. Enjoy a variety of ice creams after your meal.

Al Fanar is the one and only revolving restaurant of Abu Dhabi, which is situated in Le Royal Meridien hotel. It is famous as a gastronomic institution that has fantastic views as well as the menu offers excellent seafood, grills and salads. Fridays are usually the most busiest as diners have the opportunity to drink an unlimited amount of champagne.

Situated up on the Jebel Hafeet Mountain, a meal at Eden Rock will truly be a memorable experience. Apart from the spectacular views of Al Ain below, the Arabic food is considerably tasty and complimented by a wonderful cool atmosphere on the terrace. Shisha is also a popular pass time whilst taking in the scenic views.

49er's The Gold Rush, at Al Diar Dana Hotel, is a restaurant renowned for its fine selection of dishes from across the globe. This American ranch themed restaurant offers an exquisite and a memorable dining experience to the visitors. Taste a wide range of delicious steaks or just relax and enjoy the live music and exotic drinks served here. Prices are also reasonable.

Marakesh is located inside the Millennium Hotel offering guests scrumptious meals and a distinctive dining experience in one of the finest restaurants in the city. Decorated with gold studded pillars, hanging lanterns and mirrors, the restaurant is situated in a large marble hall that offers a Moroccan atmosphere. The Moroccan chef at Marakesh offers some of the best Moroccan recipes. On some nights there is live entertainment, such as belly dancers.

Prego's, at the Beach Rotana Hotel & Towers, has a large spacious environment with an excellent terrace overlooking the beach. This Italian restaurant offers some amazing dishes like man-sized portions of pasta, imaginative salads and pizzas which are traditionally prepared in wood-fire ovens. This is a great family restaurant.

The Emirates Palace Hotel is the most exclusive hotel in Abu Dhabi where even celebrities have dined in the past. It has a striking setting with extravagant furnishings, and it is known to have the best seafood in the city. The menu is impressive throughout and the elegant atmosphere compensates for the steep prices.
